Learning how to play acoustic guitar is one of the most well known styles for this instrument since the guitar’s roots come from that popular essence.
Within the acoustic guitar repertoire the student will be able to play different type of styles such as: Folk music, Songwriters songs, improvisation in Latin music, sing and play (in the lessons the students do not learn how to sing but how to make accompaniment through the harmony), pop artists, world music, among others.
Acoustic guitar requires a lot of creativity when performing. This style probably doesn't require the same technical skills than classical or electric guitar but still requires attention for playing it and knowledge if the students want to go further with the instrument. For instance, students often ask how to create, produce and compose music as well as make musical arrangements. This style is also suitable for solo guitar improvisations.
Some of the relevant topics the students will learn, are:
- Arpeggios
- Chords
- Music theory applied to the instrument
- Strumming
- Independence and stretching exercises
- Learning how to read properly the music (Tablature)
- Tunes/songs
Carlos will guide the students in different ways depending on the age and level of the student. The approach of the methods for beginners to medium level will of course change to the ones who are in advanced level.

Musical theory while learning to play pop - folk music
Students will learn ways to play music through the theory as well as create music and understand what they are playing. Rhythm, Melodies, Harmony-Chords, read music score, are some of the relevant topics that students learn along this process and thus feel more comfortable when playing music.

Finally there is an international pop school in Copenhagen where all students are not only learning how to play properly the guitar from a professional guitarist but also how to appreciate the meaning of the music and arts.
Students at Barragan guitar school will also be prepared for professional music education. So whether the student wants to become a professional guitar player or play the guitar as a hobby, they will always learn a constructive way to play the guitar and perform with the instrument.
Lessons are open for everyone (children, teenagers, adults). The students are welcome to the lessons from the age of 6.
The guitar lessons in Copenhagen are held at Carlos’ teaching studio (Ørnevej, Copenhagen NV). The studio offers great facilities and is easily reached by students and families from other areas of Copenhagen such as: Frederiksberg, Hellerup, Klampenborg, Vesterbro, Valby, Østerbro etc.

Carlos Barragán was born in 1985, in Colombia. Carlos has been playing the guitar since he was 6 years old. He saw an old guitar hanging in the wall of his aunt´s kinder garden and immediately he fell in love with the instrument, since then he had his first guitar lessons and basic music theory.
Carlos started taking classical and electric guitar lessons in different music schools with private teachers while he was finishing his high school. Afterwards he got a place in a university for studying classical music in Colombia. In 2013 he got a place in The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen where he studied his master´s degree in classical guitar and pedagogy.
